The new year always brought several ups and downs for our favorite gaang. This year was no exception. On February 11th, Azula and Lindseys second child, Jasmine, was born by emergency C-section. Lindsey was in labor for three days, and if the C-section hadn't been preformed both she and the baby would have died. In the end, they were both perfectly fine and the young family rejoiced in the moment.
On May 3rd, Aang was hanging out by the dolphin tank at work when he got a call from Sokka saying that Katara had gone into labor. After falling into the tank, Aang fished himself out and rushed to the hospital to be with Katara. After a few hours of laboring, Katara gave birth to hers and Aangs son. They were awestruck when they first saw him. It took a while to come up with a name for him, but eventually they decided to name their first born son Tenzin.
That summer, Toph moved to Illinois with her family after sharing one last goodbye with her friends and boyfriend. She and Ohev tried to maintain a long distance relationship, but broke up a little over four months after the move. A year later, Toph returned to Summer Oak to spend her summer vacation with everyone. She bumped in to Ohev at his part-time job at CVS, and they reconnected and started dating again. Their relationship was pretty on again, off again for several years after that. Not long after Toph got her degree in petrology, Ohev proposed to her. Out of all their friends, they were the first to get through high school and college without getting married or starting a family.
Not long after Jasmine was born, Azula learned that she got accepted to the University of Oklahoma to study meteorology. While she went off to college, Lindsey stayed in Summer Oak with Sapphire and Jasmine. They didn't like being away from each other for so long, but they both knew it was for the best. Shortly after Azula left home, Lindsey received tragic information; her "friends" kicked her out of the band. According to them, she had gotten too soft and didn't fit their image anymore. She got to keep the songs she wrote about her daughters and Azula, but that was it. Everything else belonged to the band. Going through all that with Azula so far away was tough. The paparazzi didn't help at all. When Azula came home for the summer, she quickly grew tired of her partners feeling sorry for herself and convinced her to get back on her feet. Lindsey then rounded up a few background musicians, and thus began her solo career. She's doing really well with that, and continues to fill the world with song to this day. After Azula graduated, they moved their family into a larger, nicer home in Los Angeles. They now have a very happy life, and their oldest daughter, Sapphire, is looking into becoming an actress.
After college, Mai and Zuko finally fulfilled their dreams of becoming lawyers. They ended up owning the most successful law firm in the state of Florida, so money was never a problem for them. When their son, Zorron, was in first grade, he was diagnosed with ADD. He struggled a little in school, but was given the right kind of help and support from his family. By the time he was in eighth grade, he had amazing grades in all of his classes. As Myla got older, she took up an interest in manga, and spent a lot of time drawing. She and Zorron were very close growing up, and their parents couldn't have been more proud of them. Zuko never hit them like he was hit, but was stern with them when needed to be. The family is currently doing very well financially and emotionally.
Sokka and Suki also fulfilled theirs dreams and became police officers. It wasn't easy, but they did it. After their oldest, April, turned seven, they moved away from Summer Oak to take police jobs in Massachusetts. Moving away from all their friends and family was hard, especially for April, January, and Jiro, but they eventually settled into their lives in Massachusetts. Fate has recently found them in the process of moving back home to Summer Oak. They are scheduled to return in early July, right before Aprils sixteenth birthday.
Aang and Katara suffered several financial troubles after Tenzin was born, even with the money Aang inherited from Gyotso. Everything ended up ok, but it was very difficult for them to deal with at the time. Katara became a gynecologist after college, and Aang became a pilot. They love watching Tenzin grow up into a smart, happy young man and are very happy they decided on keeping him.
One day, Aang was right about to get on his plane to fly back home to Florida, when he saw a young girl sitting alone at the airport.
"You traveling with anyone?", he asked her.
She looked up at him.
"Why do you ask?", she asked.
"I dunno. You look a little young to be traveling by yourself.", Aang said.
"I'm not too young, and yes, I am traveling alone.", the girl said.
"Where are you headed to?", Aang asked.
"Summer Oak, Florida.", the girl said, "It's a long story to why I'm going there, so please don't ask."
Aang half smiled.
"That's where I live.", he said, "You going for vacation?"
"Sort of.", the girl said, "A long vacation."
"Where are you staying?", Aang asked.
"I don't know. Wherever I can find.", the girl said.
"You don't know?", Aang asked, "How old are you? What's your name?"
"My name's Korra.", the girl said, "I just turned sixteen a few months ago."
"Sixteen?", Aang asked, "Give me a second, Korra. Don't go anywhere."
He walked over to the other side of the boarding area and took out his cell phone to call Katara.
"Hello.", Katara said, answering her phone, "Aang?"
"Hi, Katara.", Aang said, "Are you busy?"
"No, I'm just on my way to pick Tenzin up from Mai and Zukos house.", Katara said, "Why? What's going on?"
"I was just about to get ready to fly home, and I ran into this teenage girl, Korra, who's on her way to Summer Oak.", Aang told his wife, "She says she's going to be there for a while and that she has no place to stay once she gets there. I was wondering if maybe she can stay with us. She doesn't look dangerous, and I think she really needs help."
"Well… I don't know.", Katara said, "Are you sure she's not dangerous?"
"I'm pretty sure.", Aang said, "I just have this feeling about her. I don't mean to rush you, but I've got to get on the plane in a few minutes, so I really need an answer now."
Katara hastily thought it through.
"Well, your instincts on people are usually right.", Katara said, "She can stay with us as long she doesn't prove herself to be any harm to us or Tenzin. I'll tell him about it when I pick him up."
"Thanks, Katara.", Aang said, "I've gotta get going. I'll see you in a few hours. I love you."
"I love you too.", Katara said.
Aang hung up his phone, then went back over to Korra.
"Let me ask you something, Korra.", he said to her, "Are you willing to swear on your life that you're not running from anything that could bring harm to others?"
"Um, yeah.", Korra said, confused.
"Ok, then would you like to stay with me and my family in Summer Oak?", Aang asked, "I can't just let a sixteen year old girl wonder the streets of Summer Oak by herself."
Korra looked surprised.
"You're not trying to kidnap me or turn me into your sex slave, are you?", she asked.
"I swear on my life that I'm not.", Aang said, "I can assure you that I will cause you no harm in any way."
Korra thought for a second.
"Eh, what the heck?", she said, "I'll stay with you for a while."
"I'm glad to hear you say that.", Aang said.
"So what's Summer Oak like?", Korra asked, "It's not full of a bunch of freaks, is it?"
"Well, it's not the most normal place in the world, but it's a very nice town.", Aang said, "Living there changed my life. I'll bet it'll do the same for you too."
The end.
I already did a video of it. Please watch.
On the first time I finished reading it, I sulked in my bedroom and didn't know what to do with my life anymore. (Well, I did get addicted from using my iPhone to read fanfics on dA and lay down all day but other than that.)
Question, did you go all teary when you wrote this one? Because if you didn't, then I'm melodramatic. 0_0
Oh, by the way, Zorron is diagnosed with ADD? Poor little guy, well, at least he's better now.
Yes, I'm this annoying.
And yes, I'm aware that you're gonna kill me afterwards.
I don't recall getting teary eyed writing this chapter specifically, but there were other chapters that when I wrote them I teared up a little.
You're not annoying, and I'm not going to kill you.
You didn't cry? Well, at least your sis Haley did!
And yay! I'm not dead!
By the way, I'm encouraging you to finish "The Day Has Come", made me cry to when I knew it was discontinued.
Again, beautiful! Such an uplifting story.
In a couple of weeks I should be posting the first chapter of the sequel to this story, Return to Bison High, which will follow Korra's adventures. I hope you'll read it.
